Hi! I’m Halley,
Wellness Coach at Havenly
I had a strawberry banana smoothie for breakfast every morning, until I hopped on the keto bandwagon, until I tried staying under 1,500 calories a day, until I started tracking everything I ate through My Fitness Pal, until I’d make myself stay up late to get a home workout in because I “needed it” or hadn’t “earned” the day off…
This problem unfortunately only got worse before it got better. I developed some pretty unhealthy habits and my body image had subtly morphed into something ugly, negative, and desperately in need of repair.
But it did get better!
As I continued to research and experiment, I learned about the complexity of my body and how much it does for me. I began discovering what foods make me feel good and why and found myself falling in love with fitness and moving my body as I discovered all that it was capable of.
I heard all these things I was supposedto be doing like avoiding hormone disrupting chemicals in beauty products, eating healthy fats, and getting morning sunlight — it was overwhelming but alluring at the same time and, if you’ve ever felt that way before, you are far from alone.
I developed a respect and gratitude for my body and a desire to protect and care for it well.
Undeniably, there was a lot of personal growth in my spiritual life and a taking inventory of my priorities that enabled me to let go of things that were once my everything — I learned and am learning to concern myself more with being who God wants me to be rather than with how people perceive me and I now have a desire to steward well the body He gave me. I’ve found that this is the better way!
My passion for health only grew &, the more I learned, the more I realized how much I didn’t know before — how much we were never told. The true secrets to living a healthful life — how to support your body so you can have better quality of life everyday and promote longevity.
I started seeing how far away we have drifted from the simple life. I saw the need for people to know what we should’ve been being taught all along, so I decided to begin my schooling in holistic health where I become certified as a holistic health practitioner. Now I have the ability to share this information with those in similar places to the one I found myself in all those years ago — the place of wanting to do better but not knowing how.
What I have learned has empowered me to take ownership and control over my health and I am here writing this today because I want you to experience that same freedom and joy.
There is no magic pill, no formula someone is hiding, but there is a better way. There’s a way to work with your body and not against it. There’s a way to live and to live well.
I hope you’ll join us on the journey!
My entrance into the world of holistic health isn’t a head turning story by any means, but it is the journey that brought me here of which I am grateful for beyond words.
I’ve loved learning about my body for as long as I can remember. Science, specifically anatomy, was my favorite school subject for most of my life.
When I was a young teen, I dealt with the common insecurity and self doubt that accompanies girls that age — I was unsure of myself in social situations and self conscious of what people just “might” be thinking of me.
As you can imagine, this lack of confidence spilled over into every part of my life, including my relationship with my body. I felt like no matter where I was, I was taking up too much space and that I needed to do something about it.
I began reading any blog post that promised they held the secret to losing ten pounds in 7 days or was titled “5 Foods to Kickstart your Weight Loss.” I wouldn’t tolerate allowing myself to indulge in dessert… like ever.
I am a servant of Christ and probably the biggest kombucha enthusiast you’ll ever meet. Some of my favorite things include baking healthy goodies, playing the guitar, spending time with loved ones, being involved in my church’s kids ministry, & visiting local coffee shops!
